Data Driven Animated Charts and Diagrams in After Effects without plugins
Have you ever seen this kind of animated charts on the internet? There are more and more videos containing such super cool diagrams on youtube and I guess you have already thought: “I want that too!”. Well, today is your lucky day, as I am going to show you how easy it is to create animated charts in After Effects, getting data from an external Excel file and without any plugin! My name is Claudio Barba and I am also going to share with you the source code of the project I have prepared for this tutorial. So, grab a pen to take notes and stay with me!

Once downloaded, Unzip the file in a folder on your machine, and open the project charts.aep with After Effects CC2020.
Note the file \AnimatedCharts\(Footage)\data1.csv : It contains the data used as source for the bar charts. The first column is the year, while columns 2,3 and 4 contain some relevant data for Departments 1, 2 and 3. This is a typical scenario that can be animated in a chart. You can modify this data later, but keep it like that for the first time, to be able to follow the tutorial!
